What’s new » Message from Ben Rudick, Initiative of "Empowering Chinese Social Enterprise Leaders" (ECSEL)
Dear MBA and undergraduate students,
The ECSEL Initiative is excited to invite you to apply for a full scholarship for the ECSEL 2010 Program in the U.S. in April, 2010. The ECSEL Initiative was launched at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2009 and stands for Empowering Chinese Social Enterprise Leaders. ECSEL exists to help aspiring young Chinese social entrepreneurs develop their ideas to solve social and environmental challenges in China and globally and connect with the people and resources to become successful founders of businesses and organizations.
In April 2010, the ECSEL Initiative will bring 30 exceptional young leaders from China to the United States for a one-week trip to San Francisco and Miami. These young people will attend two exciting events focused on how innovative business approaches can be used to solve social and environmental challenges. At the end of this week, participants will return to China with new relationships, knowledge, and inspiration to make a difference through social enterprise.
Participants will travel first to the Global Center for Social Entrepreneurship at the University of the Pacific in California. At a three day program, they will interact with leading social entrepreneurs in the U.S., discuss their own ideas, and visit leading organizations working in renewable energy in San Francisco.
Participants will then travel to Miami, Florida for the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U). CGI U brings together 1,500 students from around the world to make personal commitments to action to address issues like poverty, global health, and climate change. Last year, several ECSEL scholarship winners met President Clinton in person.
ECSEL seeks applications from MBA and undergraduate students from across China with passion and ideas for solving social or environmental challenges through business. We seek demonstrated leadership ability and excitement to make social enterprise a career path. The deadline for applying is January 31, 2010.
